Since we now travel in a Winnebaggo VIEW (a Class C RV), when we get to a destination where we would like to stay for a few days, or longer, we need another mode of transportation so we don't have to pack up the VIEW just to go shopping or sight seeing.
Our current answer is to take a large motor scooter that will carry both of us, yet can be loaded onto the back of the VIEW. Future plans include taking a trailer for the scooter and motorcycle, or towing a small car or truck. This woudl become a necessity if we decide to go to a larger RV, as the Class A 'busses' cannot be parked just anywhere!
On our 2012-2013 cross country trip, we loaded and unloaded the scooter ten times. It was a great way to ex[;pre the communities we were visiting . The scooter is an easy ride for at least 50 miles, but not on the highways, so we have to find secondary roads to where we are planning to go. For instance, we were visiting a cousin in Universal City, TX, and took the scooter into San Antonio for a day of sight seeing. Another time, we were in Big Bend National Park, TX and rode the scooter 50 miles into the small town of Terlingua to visit an old friend and tour a ghost town.
